Rodrigo Ayala

Rodrigo Ayala was self-taught on piano from the age of nine to nineteen. At the time an undergraduate student of Applied Mathematics for Economics and Management, he began taking lessons with Jacinto Mateus and soon made the move to dedicate entirely to music.
He enrolled at the Aquiles Delle Vigne International Academy of Music, in Coimbra, where he studied with Manuel Araújo and Aquiles Delle Vigne, and earned his bachelor’s degree from Lisbon College of Music. He then moved to Paris, where he studied under Judy Chin.
His ability to play by ear has allowed him to cross the boundaries of classical music and bring other genres into the world of piano, through improvisation and his own arrangements. He was awarded 3rd prize at the Taiwan International Piano Duo Competition and 2nd prize at the Sardoal International Piano Competition, in duo with Alexander Stretile.
